To all the saints in Colossae,
We thank God for you when we pray.

For of your faith and love we've heard,
Which comes from hope, sprung from the Word.

Good news bears fruit across the land.
We pray you'll fully understand.

That you may walk a worthy route
That pleases God and bears good fruit.

With joy show patience by his might.
He gave us places in the light.

He saves us from the dark domain
And brought us into Jesus' reign.

Creation all by him was made
And in him everything has stayed.

Of the assembly, he's the head.
To reconcile, his blood was shed.

Though once from God you were estranged,
By faith and Christ's death you were changed.

Called to explain the mystery
Once hidden, now for saints to see.

Our hope of glory breaking through.
The mystery is: Christ lives in you.

So walk with him in faith that grows
And thankfulness that overflows.

Don't fall for vain philosophy.
In Christ dwells the full Deity.

He cut the sinful flesh from you.
He gave you life and fullness too.

Mere human ways that may sound smart
Are empty and don't change the heart.

You died, and then with Christ were raised.
So think of things that will be praised.

Not earthly things that you don't need
Like evil passions, lust, and greed.

Don't be these idols' devotees.
For God's wrath comes because of these.

Your life, these ways, once did include.
The old is gone. You've been renewed.

Once anger - show compassion now.
Quit rage for kindness - Christ is how.

No malice, but humility.
No slander; gentleness from thee.

No shameful speaking. No deceit.
But at forgiveness, be elite.

And walk in love, which binds it all,
With hearts of peace as you were called.

So teach and share with Christ imbued.
And sing to God with gratitude.

Support your husbands. Love your wives.
Obey your parents. Help kids' lives.

Obey those for whom you have to work.
If you're in charge, don't be a jerk.

Let all your work be for the Lord.
Inheritance is your reward.

In prayer, be watchful. Pray for us.
That I preach clearly, as I must.

Reach unbelievers, don't delay.
Speak grace, so you know what to say.

Paul said, then, as he bid adieu,
Complete the work God gave to you.
