To those on whom the Spirit’s poured,
Wrote Peter, servant of the Lord:
Praise God who granted us new life,
Far greater than our present strife.
Your faith leads to elation pure,
Delivering salvation sure.
So don’t return to sinful ways,
but dwell on grace throughout your days.
Be holy, following God’s lead.
From emptiness you have been freed.
May purity set you apart.
Now love, and love with all your heart.
Reborn we now are God’s own spore,
Whose word endures forevermore.
Therefore you must eliminate
All lies and slander, envy, hate.
Be nourished by the word of God,
and join the royal, priestly squad,
Who shine the light, who make it known:
God laid a precious cornerstone.
Exemplifying how to live:
When you are wronged, like him, forgive.
As strangers in this world we’re in,
Be known for good deeds, not for sin.
In all positions heed God's call.
Respect the Lord and honor all.
Defend the faith by saying why
you serve the Christ the Lord on high.
To chase the flesh is to be dead.
Pursue the godly life instead.
The end is near. Be ready, pray.
Love everyone who comes your way.
Whatever gift you have received,
Through you, may God’s will be achieved.
Remember now, hard times will come.
Much glory, though, to suffer some.
God gives you strength, supplies thereof:
Humility, steadfastness, love.
